Darren Till is concerned Tyron Woodley may have been paid to lose against Jake Paul when they fight later this month.
Woodley has never boxed professionally before, but held the UFC welterweight title for almost three years during his prime.
He will take on YouTube star Paul at a catch weight of 190lbs in an eight round fight on August 28 after watching his best friend Ben Askren get knocked out back in April.
A rivalry between the two men was duly born, with ‘The Chosen One’ free to accept a bout following his release from the UFC earlier this summer.
Having already admitted he will earn a career-high pay day from the bout, Till is concerned the man who beat him in 2018 is taking the fight for reasons which could be described as disingenuous.
“Tyron Woodley beat me fair and square,” he said on The MMA Hour. “Am I a better fighter than Tyron? Yeah, I truly believe.
“You know, I’m going to keep stamping my name.
“But he beat me fair and square. And just, I’m very, very worried that, like, he’s getting paid a large amount for taking, like, a dive or something.
“Very worried about that.”
Although Woodley has not won since he retained his 170lbs title against Till in Dallas back in 2018, he remains one of the greatest champions of the division in history.
Although he is training with the great Floyd Mayweather Jr in preparation for the fight in Cleveland, Till is not convinced Woodley will be taking the fight particularly seriously.
“I don’t know enough about; I don’t know how powerful Jake Paul is, with his team. I don’t know, mate. I just know that if Woodley wants to beat him, he can beat him. It’s simple.
“I’m not throwing hate at Jake Paul. The guy looks like he can box and looks like he’s training hard. So, you know, I don’t know. I don’t know.”
