Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley’s boxing clash is edging ever closer.

The pair will finally meet in Cleveland at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on August 29. This will be Woodley’s first-ever boxing contest while Paul looks to move to a perfect 4-0 and keep his 100 per cent knockout percentage.

Woodley has not been on a rich vein of form at all. The former UFC welterweight champion lost his last four fights in UFC and didn’t win a single round in the process.

Now, 39, Woodley has been released from his UFC contract and is looking to avenge the loss his good friend Ben Askren suffered at the hands of Paul earlier this year.

One of those men that defeated Woodley in his final UFC stretch is former UFC welterweight challenger, Gilbert Burns.

Burns says that Woodley is in for a tough time against ‘great boxer’ Jake Paul.

“Jake Paul is really proving himself as a hard worker, a great boxer, heavy-handed,” Burns said to TMZ. “He’s very big. I don’t see an easy fight for Tyron Woodley.

“I see the pressure’s on Tyron Woodley,” Burns says. “He has to win that fight. Otherwise, it’s going to be a horrible way to recover from.”

Burns scored a unanimous decision over Woodley back in May 2020 after winning all five rounds. So, Burns knows a thing or two about how Woodley competes.

“The one thing that I learned for Tyron Woodley, he’s very afraid to get tired,” Burns says. “I think Jake’s go-to stay calm, put pressure on him, watch out for that right hand, but at the same time when the overhand right comes, it opens a lot of things.”

Burns continued, “I got to watch this one close, but I’m not that confident that Tyron Woodley’s gonna pull that one-off.”

Woodley is not taking the task lightly. The former UFC man has been training with Floyd Mayweather – who faced Jake’s brother Logan earlier this year – to work on his boxing skills ahead of the clash.

Paul continues his trend of facing first-time boxers in the professional ranks. Thus far, fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson and former UFC fighter Ben Askren have all fallen to the more trained Paul.
