Colby Covington has sensationally claimed Tyron Woodley was paid by Jake Paul to not knock him out when they fought.

The former UFC welterweight champion suffered a decision loss to Paul in his home city of Cleveland, Ohio in August.

There are those who have suggested ‘The Chosen One’ was paid to not finish the fight.

In the fourth round of the contest, the YouTube star was sent crashing through the ropes as an overhand right landed, yet Woodley remained cautious rather than going in for the finish.

Although Paul has stringently denied these claims, Covington insists Woodley was ‘paid to take a dive’.

He told MMA News: “That was definitely a work, without a doubt. You know Tyron Woodley was paid to hold back and not go off on ‘Snake’ Paul.

“He [Woodley] had him hurt and concussed bad in the fourth [round]. Literally, almost fell out of the ring. And he kind of just held him up. He didn’t try and finish him right there.

“So you could tell that Tyron Woodley was paid to take a dive and it was a work. So not really much you can think about him at work when someone has a bunch of money from YouTube and Disney.

“He [Paul] can pay people off and that is what he did.”

Paul will return to the ring on December 18 when he takes on Britain’s Tommy Fury, yet John Fury has refuted any claims his son will accept money to lose.

“All kinds of stuff in the contract,” Fury told YouTube star Rob Moore. “You’ve got to do this and you’ve got to do that.

“I could go into it more and more but I don’t want to bore people with the politics.

“I’m not even bothered about that, because of what they’re going to do, they’re going to do anyway. We just want the fight because we know we can win it.

“People think that Tommy’s getting paid to lose, they’re joking. A Fury would rather be put to death than go down that road.”
